5 Ways Mobile Working Can Help Your Business

Mobile working is on the rise. This year, 1.3 billion people make up the mobile workforce, which is 37.2% of the entire workforce, according to IDC. With so many people jumping on the bandwagon, there must be a benefit to mobile working, right? Of course! Find out 5 ways mobile working can help your business.

What is remote working?

Remote working isn’t simply working from home or working with a sales team on the road. It’s way more than that; it’s working at any place that isn’t your office.

1. Saving cost and increasing efficiency

Having staff at the office costs money. Offering mobile working as a benefit may reduce your salary overhead. Arise research found that 58% of people would take a pay cut to be able to work from home. 25% would be happy to have a lower salary to avoid the commute to the office. Flexible working also cuts absenteeism from 8.5% to 3.1%, meaning healthier employees with less time off. If your employees do get sick anyway, they won’t bring their germs to the office, reducing the risk of the whole office getting sick.

2. Access to new workers

Many people who don’t work would consider going back to work if they could work with more flexibility. 60% of mature workers say they would start mobile working if it was more available. They would delay retirement by an average of 6.6 years as well. 74% of people not currently working would go back to work if they could work remotely.

3. Flexible hardware

Your staff will need the right hardware to get the job done, but that doesn’t necessarily mean a laptop. Many people now use tablets instead. Holiday Inn Express found that 58% of mobile workers travel without a laptop. If cost is an issue, you can also allow your staff to use their own devices.

4. Mobile software

It’s easier to share information and stay in touch with cloud storage and software on the cloud. Ensure that your software is available either via remote access or over the cloud. Some software also offers both cloud and traditional hosting.

5. Manage your staff effectively

Keep communication flowing, either on the phone, email, or via other communication software. Choose the method that works for you. Set clear targets so you and your worker understand what’s expected. It removes opinions about performance and allows you to measure performance in a clearer way.
